Hi everyone,
It’s almost time for the OMM Lite Surrey Hills and we’re looking forward to seeing you all in this beautiful area.

A Reminder of the Location:

Off Row Lane,

South of Farley Green,

Nr Guildford

Surrey GU5 9ET

Be aware that the lanes are narrow approaching the Event HQ and there are is a lot of horseriding, walking and cycling in the area – please do drive carefully!

When you arrive:

We’ll be there to show you where to park/pitch your tent.   Then come on down to the marquee to register.  Registration is open from 3pm to 11pm on Fridayand from 7am to 9am  on Saturday.

Kit

The weather currently looks great BUT things could change so please make sure you are ready for any weather from high factor sunscreen and a cap or hat to waterproofs and a warm top (take another look at the kit list for the basic equipment we ask you to carry for your safety – any changes to this will be posted at registration on Saturday morning i.e. if the weather is forecast to be extremely warm).

Just in case the sun is warmer than expected here’s a quick guide to heat exhaustion so you can spot the signs and symptoms.

Water

Don’t get dehydrated – please ensure you carry enough water/fluids with you each day – there are no water stops. You can, of course, stop off at one of the villages dotted around the area to replenish your stocks.  Remember the hotter it is the more water you will need and the slower you may run or walk.    Electrolyte based drinks/tablets can help combat the minerals lost through sweat.

Cash:

Please remember to bring some cash if you would like to purchase food or drink or treat yourself to a sports massage as they may be unable to take payment by card and the nearest cashpoint is approx. 4 miles away.

Team Changes

If you need to make changes to your team or change the course you are on, this can still be done at registration.

Biosecurity – avoiding the spread of Invasive Non-Native Species (INNS)

Although this is not a water based event, please could all competitors ensure that their footwear is clean and free of mud before arriving at the event to ensure that we do not endanger the biosecurity of the competition area.  More information biosecurity and why it’s so important here.

Saturday 29th April

A fantastic day of racing followed by an evening sat around the camp reliving the decisions of the day. In the LITE long score Gary Davies/Ceri Rees took a commanding lead similarly Janine Roberts/Sam Scott on the short score. We’ll see if they have the legs to maintain this going into Sunday.

On the BIKE short score ten points separate Julian Hemsted and James brown/michael holloway on 470 & 460 points respectively. The long score see Ian Cartwright being chased by previous OMM BIKE winner Ifor Powell for the lead. With both race too close to call we’ll see who can carry this form into Sunday.

In the main field it was great to see so many out enjoying the race. As we passed one of the local pubs it was great to see a number of competitors had stopped for a „pit stop“ mid race.

At the evening camp the BBQ’s were going and everyone looked to be enjoying the evening as the sun made a brief appearance making the whole campsite a very pleasant place to be.

Good luck to all the competitors on day 2!

19th May: 1 week to go!

Apologies for the website issues we’ve been having but here’s a reminder of some important things you need to do and important information about water supplies you need to read before the OMM Iceland next week!

KIT LIST AND DECLARATION

  • Reduce queuing time at registration, and SAVE YOUR TIME, download, print out, complete and sign the declaration BEFORE coming to registration, you can do that HERE – This needs to be completed and handed in for every team taking part. Remember each team must have everything on the Compulsory kit list to take part.
  • Have you got everything on the Compulsory Kit List?  The list is based on extensive knowledge of what can occur in the mountains and in particular the possible conditions that may occur in Iceland at this time of the year, after a period of higher than usual temperatures, the area just had a couple of days of Snow, In Scotland they talk about the possibility of 4 seasons in one day, in Iceland they talk about the possibility of 4 seasons in 1 hour. However myself and competitors did spend one Saturday night in T-shirt and shorts at midnight waiting for the sun to set, sadly at other times, it has not been so good. The Saturday night camp has a sea view, sheltered on 3 sides, with easy access from the road, whilst a lot of the course has a good mobile signal, at the camp, the sheltered position means the signal can be restricted, a short walk uphill can resolve that.

AIRPORT TRANSFERS

  • Transport to and from the Airport. This should have been pre-booked, but if you have not please email Emma by Sunday 21st May 17.  Coach leaves the airport at either 10:30 or 16:30 on Friday and returns at 13:15 on Sunday.    The bus sizes  will be booked to suit the numbers required, so please make sure you have booked, the bus may not be able to accommodate you at the last minute.
  • Coach booking list here.

WATER

  • When you leave Race HQ by bus at Grindavik on Saturday morning, you must take water with you, there is not any water available at the Start line, you can take extra, and leave the bottle in a Rubbish bag at the start line for us to dispose of.  Depending on your route choice, on day one there are a number of places you can refill with water, although we recommend the steaming, bubbling, muddy pools that smell like rotten eggs are avoided !!!
  • Water Day 2 is very scarce, it may be possible to choose a route that does not have any water supply, you should make sure you start the day with 1.5 litres of water,
  • Saturday night camp, there is running water from a tap, 2 x flushing toilets with small sinks, and 2 sinks for washing up.

CAMPING GAS

  • We will only have what is pre-ordered, this is a service to assist you, we don’t stock Gas in Iceland, and will go to the shop the same as you would, last year we had to visit 3 shops to get enough  Order HERE

PLEASE NOTE  If the Gas is not pre-ordered by Sunday 21st May we won’t have it. From Race HQ It will be a 3-hour round trip for us to get the amount of Gas required. We can only go once.

FREEZE DRIED FOOD AND EQUIPMENT

  • Freeze Dried Food, for the Highest Energy, Lightest weight, and Most compact size, you can Order the Extreme Adventure Food HERE, along with Ultra Fuel Liquid Food and 4:1 Endurance fuel, designed specifically for Ultra running, for Overseas competitors, this can also be collected in Iceland.
  • If you still need any kit, you can get most things at this Website, for overseas competitors, this can be taken to Iceland by pre-arrangement, contact info@adventureresources.co.uk to arrange.

BLUE LAGOON AND TRAVEL

  • If you want to join the OMM group on Sunday afternoon at the Blue Lagoon, it’s a better rate, and you will be in the fast track group lane, instead of the normal price and what is often a very long Queue, if not contact Jorunn or Solveig at All-Iceland on info@all-iceland.co.uk. TOP TIP, towels not included, save money take your own, remove all Jewellery before entering the Lagoon to avoid discolouring.

BUS FROM AIRPORT TO RACE HQ : On Fridayafternoon 26th May OMM will organise 2 buses for competitors only to leave Keflavik airport to go to Race HQ, ( Times will be advised in a later Newsletter ) to enable us to make sure there are enough places on each bus, You MUST pre book your place, on one of these buses. If you are travelling to Race HQ from another location, we are unable to offer transport to Race HQ. On Sunday afternoon, we will also be arranging transport back to Keflavik airport for those catching the Late Sunday afternoon flights. These are the only transfers to and from the airport and Race HQ that are arranged by OMM. Other locations in Iceland and at other times are not included. If you have arrangements with All-Iceland they will either make sure you are on one of these buses, or advise you directly of your plans.

TRAVEL, CAR HIRE & TRIPS  in Iceland,  for the best deals with expert knowledge contact
All-Iceland at info@all-iceland.co.uk, we are involved in a number of events in Iceland, at every event we see competitors who have spent an extra £100 to save £10, arrive late, miss the transport, get stranded, get a big bill, we recommend All-Iceland to sort out your travel and accommodation needs. The OMM Iceland crew use them for everything, it saves us time, hassle and money. Ask about the 24 hour no pay deal on hire cars left at Race HQ during the event.
An All-Iceland representative will be available at the event,  to assist with bookings, accommodation and travel but are unable to influence problems with any bookings not made by them.

All Iceland

GAS FOR THE EVENT. In a Newsletter nearer the time, we will send you details of a link where you can pre order and pay for Gas you can collect at registration, we are unable to stock gas, and we will only have what is pre ordered .
Gas is available at many Petrol Stations in Iceland, but the OMM Iceland event is before the Icelandic camping season starts, so many garages will only have what they had left from 2016, if any at all. Last year we had to visit three places to get all the Gas pre ordered with us by competitors.

START TIMES ON SATURDAY MORNING : Because of the long days in Iceland at this time of year, we don’t start early. with good weather, it hardly gets dark at all.  In 2017 you will be transported from Race HQ by bus to the start line. This enables everyone to experience some unique Icelandic features at the Eastern end of the course,m with checkpoints by bubbling mud pools, steam vents and fantastic scenery. Your start time will be advised in a Newsletter once registration closes, and the time your bus leaves Race HQ will be advised at registration. The finish line on Sunday will be very close to Race HQ, and the Saturday night campsite is on nice grass, with a flushing WC, and a sea view.
It is NOT POSSIBLE to leave vehicles at the start line, it is a remote location, with no services, and virtually no passing traffic.

OMM ICELAND EVENT TOP :  For 2017 it will be the new version of the very popular
OMM Vector Zip a high wicking, lightweight insulation top, complete with stretch mitt, perfect for the Iceland OMM as either a base or mid layer, the Iceland OMM top will be embroidered on the chest  with the Iceland OMM logo ( see the Logo at the top of this Newsletter ). The OMM logo as seen in the picture, will still be on the other side of the chest.
You can order yours HERE, all orders received by 1st May will ten be embroidered and despatched 8th May, or you can collect at registration in Iceland

[mk_padding_divider size=“20″][mk_toggle style=“fancy“ title=“EVENT DIRECTORS REPORT“]OMM Lite and Bike North Yorkshire September 2016 – Event Directors Report

Going from the glorious sunshine on the North York Moors back to my desk is always a time for contemplation! It was lovely to see familiar faces over the weekend and humbling to see so many new ones coming to join us, sharing in the event.

My aim for the Bike and Lite events is to provide an event that offers good competition and a challenge to those of you with experience whilst at the same time offering a friendly and informal platform for those with little or no experience to come and learn more. We are always looking for ways in which we can improve so please let us know if you have any ideas.

Once again Steve Willis did a fantastic job of putting together some interesting navigational challenges across a beautiful part of North Yorkshire. Steve has ridden and walked all of the trails prior to the event, spoken with all of the land owners, tenants and various organisations responsible for the management of the area to ensure that we have the permission and support of all to allow us to put the event on. This takes a huge amount of time, dedication and considerable sweat, without which we could not have enjoyed the weekend we just have.

The event was supported by 10 volunteers, many of whom took holiday on Friday to come and get everything ready. From putting up the marquees, parking, marshalling, putting controls out and servicing toilets amongst many others, the cheerful and willing way in which they go about their business to ensure that everything is looked after continues to amaze me. It is a real privilege to have such a selfless group of people to work with. Although she won’t thank me for this, special thanks goes to Marilyn who had just returned from Mexico to help out.

All our events are run on a not for profit basis which is incredibly important to me as I feel it is a crucial part of the atmosphere we enjoyed over the weekend, without the willing help offered by so many this would not remain so. If you would like to help on any of the events please just let us know.

Event catering is not an easy thing to do well, especially when you are working from a field. Diane, Sam and the team from Cole Catering did a great job and I for one, enjoyed the food over the weekend – the chicken curry on Friday was good, the braised steak on Sunday even better and the friendliness of their team only added to the event.

Having the beer and cider at the event HQ brewed less than 200m from where we set up the marquees was a great touch, thank you to Phil, Carl, Nadine and team who made sure we were never thirsty during the weekend.

The final thank you goes out to everyone who joined us for the weekend, competing or not. Thank you for respecting the rights of way and other users of these in the area. There was one instance when on Sunday morning a local resident asked the occupants of a campervan to turn down their music at 0800 – not unreasonable and it seemed to take over 5 minutes for them to find their volume button. For that 0.3% of people out there please don’t be so ignorant in the future.

There was some cracking competition on both the Bike and Lite courses with a hugely impressive performance by Mark McPhillips collecting all but one control on Saturday finishing the weekend with 1786 points on the Bike Long Score. On the Lite Theo Highland and Rajiv Ratan followed in the footsteps of winners earlier this year by taking the top spot with 972 points on their first ever event of this kind, despite some serious competition. Richard Thompson bagged himself first place on the

Bike Wild course with 1590 points and the unwelcome attention of a few midges at the overnight campsite! Whilst it is important to recognise the achievements of those in the running for prizes, well done to all those who competed for the first time, submitting yourself to the challenges (and satisfaction) of planning your routes and finding the checkpoints whilst returning to the HQ as close to time as possible. Hopefully you got a chance to see some of the wonderful views, got to know your teammate better and had fun.

We have made donations to the Forestry Commission, Trails Maintenance Fund and the Mountain Rescue in the area to say thank you for their support of the event, without whom it would not happen.

Friends and family are always welcome for the weekend even if they are not competing and it was great to see some of you there over the weekend.

Stuart Hamilton

OMM Events Director[/mk_toggle][mk_toggle style=“fancy“ title=“COURSE PLANNERS REPORT“ icon=““ el_class=““]I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all of my rides checking all of the bridleways and controls this summer but the weather and track conditions at the weekend couldn’t have been any better.  The bridleways across Levisham Moor and Glaisdale Moor are 2 of my favourites in England.  I hoped that I had made the optimum route long enough so that no riders would be able to clear up on either day. Mark McPihilps tried his hardest and only left out one control on Saturday but he left a few more out there on Sunday.  I placed all of the controls on routes that could be reached by bike but hopefully gave the runners plenty of opportunities to use public footpaths as short cuts. Thanks to Karen & Richard Clark for checking out many of these. The favourable comments from many Bike & Lite competitors suggest that I succeeded.

Thanks to North Yorkshire Moors National Park, Forestry Commission and the Countryside Landowners Association who were happy for the event to go ahead. We will be making donations to them and the Scarborough & Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team who would have been there if we had needed them. Thanks also to the gamekeepers who were happy for us to use many of the private tracks across their grouse moors.

It was great to see 130 riders competing at the same time and using the same controls as 170 runners as well as no litter or open gates when we collected them in. It’s a pity that only 8 riders made it to the Wild Camp so we will need to consider whether to continue with this course next year or open it up to runners!!

Thanks to Jens Strain and Harveys for 2 excellent maps. I’m sorry that there were 3 corrections but we only got permission to use the permissive bridleway through RAF Fylingdales, the track though Low Staindale and the track  near Lastingham after the map had gone to the printers. Thanks also to John Rawden, Ray Morriss, Dave Lloyd, John Dixon, Michael Brough, Zoe Cowgill, Steve Kendall, Sheila Pearce and Lynn Lloyd for helping me put out and collect in the controls, the OMM team for their hard work organising the excellent event HQ and Phil Lee and his staff at the New Inn.

Sion James is planning the Spring event so I won’t get my monthly rides around the Derbyshire Dales this winter but I will look forward to competing in the Brecon Beacons. However, I will be planning the September event in Wensleydale so I can check out the bridleways closer to home this summer.

Hope to see you again next year or at a NYMBO event soon

12:34 Sun 18th: The North Yorkshire moors are looking stunning today, not a cloud in the Sky. A great day to be out running or riding! We caught up with a few teams at the Ana Cross on the top of the moor. Jessica & Heather Hughes came past looking determined and looking to take top spot of the Long Score.

08:27 Sun 18th:Morning from Pickering and day 2 of the OMM LITE & BIKE North Yorkshire. The sun is out and blue skies overhead for another day on the North Yorkshire trails. It was an early night for most last night with most competitors resting some tired legs. Today the competitors will head West leaving the forests and onto the open moors. Looking at the map there are some tough climbs today and long descents which the bikes will enjoy. Competitors are heading to the start now, good luck all!! More pictures in the folder..

20:12 Sat 17th: Well done to all competitors for completing day 1. After a cloudy start the sun came out and blue skies followed the competitors for the rest of the day. On the BIKE Long Score only 4 points separate Mark Mcphillips and Phil Upton. Theo Highland and Rajiv Ratan head into Day 2 on the LITE Long Score with a clear lead over the rest of the class. Competitors are currently relaxing in the marquee, the music is on and the bar/catering is open. We look forward to some close racing tomorrow, you can view all results here…

16:45 Sat 17th: Competitors are down to their last minutes to get back to the finish in their allocated time. Some have judge their routes well and have a relaxed jog to the finish and a well deserved drink. Others have a slightly more rushed finish, trying to avoid the 2 point penalty for every minute they’re over the limit.

The current leader on the courses are:

LITE Long Score: Fiona + Heather Hughes

LITE Short Score: Miles + Julian Winter

BIKE Long Score: David Cowgill

BIKE Short Score: Phil Collings

13.45am Sat 17th: The competitors are out on the course following their chosen routes. Speaking to the teams there is some different approaches being taken, some are planning very serious routes taking in big miles others definitely have a few pubs on their hit list. We met up with a few team at checkpoint 30, the water splash was a nice colling off point in the 25 degree heat.

Most teams have 1-2 hours left to get as many checkpoints as they can before dibbing at the finish, we look forward to the first few finishers anytime now.

dsc_0051

08.10am Sat 17th: All the competitors started planning their routes for the day. Todays checkpoints were placed to the east of the competition area taking the competitors into the North Yorkshire forests and trails through farmland.dsc_0015

22.11pm Fri 16th: This weekend is the last OMM LITE of the 2016 event calendar. We’re at the Cropton Brewery for the North Yorkshire event, the competitors arrived through Friday evening enjoying a few drinks in the marquee and checking out the map ahead of their start tomorrow.

The weather looks promising for the weekend and with a course covering some stunning areas of the North Yorkshire Moors the competitors are in for some great running and riding. We look forward to seeing what tomorrow brings….

EVENT COORDINATORS REPORT

[/mk_fancy_title]

I hope you have all have recovered well (from what I think must be the hottest ever OMM event!) and had a great weekend – I know we did. We are continually trying to improve your experience so please do get in touch with your comments and suggestions. It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces but also plenty of new ones – welcome to the OMM family! Competitor experienced ranged from complete novices to OMM veterans of many years and ages ranged from just 14 yrs old to an impressive 74 (Keith you are an inspiration!). Well done to you all and of course congratulations to all our prize-winners who covered an impressive amount of ground in sweltering heat.

It was lovely to see so many youngsters at the event, both competing and doing an brilliant job of cheering at the finish line. One of the aims of the OMM Lite is to encourage the next generation to get out and about in the beautiful hills and countryside that the UK has to offer. We’ll continue to encourage you to bring along your families to Lite events and we hope to offer activities for younger children in the future.

We were fortunate to have such a great event centre, so my 1 st thanks go to everyone at Path Hill Outdoors. You can find out more about the great work they do here – www.pathhill.com

I think you’ll all agree that Dave Chapman planned a great course for you all, showing many of you this beautiful area for the 1 st time. It’s no easy task – planning starting many months ago to ensure there is plenty of route choice and that all local land owners and residents are aware and happy with our plans. Dave is hopefully now taking a few days well-earned rest before continuing with his epic task of planning all 9 courses for this years OMM in October in South West Scotland. We’ll be making a donation to the South Chilterns Path Maintenance Volunteers so that they can continue their good work.

The event would not have taken place without our volunteers, who all took Friday off work and drove many miles to make it happen. From putting up and taking down the marquee, registration and car parking to (everyone’s favourite!) sorting out the portaloos, they did it all with a smile on their faces. I can’t believe how lucky we are to have such hardworking volunteers who come back to our events again and again.

So big thanks to Simon, Graeme, Ryan, Luke, Paul, Helen and Joan and Luke P. Once again Matt and Fi from the Old Post Office and their friendly team did a great job keeping us fed and watered. The warm weather certainly kept the drinks flowing and there had to be an emergency replenishment of Cider on Saturday night! I think their burgers are quite possibly the best I’ve tasted…

I had great feed back for our two Sports Therapists, Helen and Trisha, who gave amazing treatments and were very knowledgeable. They worked for about 7 hours with only a short break! If you’d like to get in touch with either of them for further treatment here’s the details:

On a final note, many of you may have heard that some of our competitors stopped to help a lady (unconnected with the event) who had become unwell. I can report that after a short stay in hospital she is recovering at home. Praise goes to Paul and Sally Klenerman, Dom and Delia Watts and Mark Baker for their act of kindness and of course they were reimbursed any time penalty points they would have received.

Photographs from the weekend are now on the website for you to enjoy – special thanks to Tori for her photographs at Saturdays finish. If you have any photos you would like to share please email emma@theomm.com. I look forward to seeing you all at another OMM event soon.

Many thanks for the fantastic feedback it’s great to hear what you think:

‚Have to say as my first ever experience of this type of event, I definitely picked the most well organised, professional and most importantly fun filled! I will certainly be taking part again, thanks to all involved‘

‚Thanks to you and your fab volunteers for putting on a brilliant event, we had a blast!
See you in October if not before…. ‚

‚Thanks to the OMM team for a fantastic weekend, really appreciate your help and advice as this was our first event, hopefully see you again soon.‘

„My wife has, for many years, had to suffer me disappearing off to compete in the OMM, and then return damp and limping and not much use!  I hoped that the OMM Lite would be a means of introducing her to the spirit and atmosphere of the OMM, so she could get an insight. I found this weekend to be exactly that and my wife (who is not a fell runner!) really enjoyed herself and wants to do another. The thing that really stood out was the friendliness of all the staff, from the Car Parking to Registration and beyond.“

[mk_padding_divider size=“10″][mk_toggle style=“fancy“ title=“EVENT DIRECTOR’S REPORT“]OMM Lite and Bike Peak District Spring 2016 – Event Directors Report

I have now had some sleep and have had time to reflect on what was a thoroughly enjoyable weekend.

Steve Willis did a fantastic job of putting together some interesting navigational challenges across a beautiful part of the Peak District.

Although she won’t thank me for this, special thanks goes to Carrie who had just returned from successfully completing her first Marathon des Sables to help out.

Some of you may have noticed that St Georges Day fell on the Saturday of the event, traditionally a very busy day for the Scouts. Simon, who provided all of the infrastructure for the event (marquees, lighting, power and water) and should have been involved in the Scouting events came to help us once again, without his superhuman efforts the events would not happen.

Matt and Fi from The Old Post Office in Ingleton did the catering for the OMM last October and did such a good job that we asked them to come and help us with this one. I for one, enjoyed the food over the weekend – the chicken kebabs were really good and the friendliness of their team only added to the event.

The final thank you goes out to everyone who joined us for the weekend, competing or not. Thank you for respecting the rights of way and other users of these in the area. With one exception, we have only had compliments from the landowners and other organisations. If I knew which team it was that had sworn at a landowner when they were asked to stick to the right of way, rather than running through a field full of new born lambs they would certainly not be welcome at another of our events. There was some cracking competition on both the Bike and Lite courses with a hugely impressive performance by Tom Gibbs and Chris Hope collecting all but two controls on Saturday and clearing the course on Sunday covering a total of 226km on the Bike Long Score. On the Lite Tim Campion-Smith and Laura Heath almost cleared the course as well, of particular note that Laura is a first time competitor on OMM events.

Whilst it is important to recognise the achievements of those in the running for prizes, well done to all those who competed for the first time, submitting yourself to the challenges (and satisfaction) of planning your routes and finding the checkpoints whilst returning to the HQ as close to time as possible. Hopefully you got a chance to see some of the wonderful views, got to know your team mate better and had fun.

Friends and family are always welcome for the weekend even if they are not competing and it was great to see some of you there over the weekend. We are looking at putting on some activities during the daytime at forthcoming events and it would be great to have you join us.

Stuart Hamilton

OMM Events Director[/mk_toggle][mk_padding_divider size=“10″][mk_toggle style=“fancy“ title=“COURSE PLANNER’S REPORT“]Thank you for running and riding in the White Peak on a beautiful but cold weekend which makes my planning worthwhile. I thoroughly enjoyed all of my rides (and a few walks) during the winter despite the cold wet weather but I was relieved that we had a dry week beforehand so that the mud had chance to dry out. I realised after last year that I needed to make the Bike course longer so that Chris & Tom couldn’t clear up. I managed on Saturday but forgot about Sunday so it’s one-all now. I was

worried that I hadn’t given the runners enough variety but everyone seemed to enjoy the scenery and tracks around Dovedale on Saturday and Lathkill Dale on Sunday.

Thanks to the National Park who were happy for the event to go ahead and gave us permission to use the converted railway lines so we will be donating £2 per competitor to their trail maintenance fund.

Thanks for riding and running responsibly although, unfortunately, we didhave 2 problems on Sunday. I should have marked Oddo Farm as out of bounds as Mr Furness had given us permission to use his private track through #10 but not through his farmyard. I should also have taped the footpath past One Ash Grange for the runners approaching from the south so that you didn’t get lost and cause the farmer problems – especially as they are just coming to the end of a long and tiring lambing season. I have apologised to them both on your behalf (but one team in particular – we don’t know who, need to be more polite when asked to remain on the right of way on private land)!

Thanks to Jens Strain for yet another excellent map which was printed by Harveys. Thanks also to Brian; Christine at Darley Farm for the perfect event centre right next to the Tissington Trail. It is an official but informal caravan site and they would enjoy seeing you there again.

Thanks to Jim Imber, Jack Aspden & Stuart Pigg for helping me put out the controls on Friday and Saturday then collecting them all in on Sunday (with some extra help from Dave Evans, Graeme Thompson, Tom Williams, Zoe &; David Cowgill), we didn’t find any dropped litter or open gates.

Final thanks to the OMM team and especially Stuart and Emma for all of their hard work and enthusiasm before, during and after the event. I’m having a fornight off to play golf and check OMM controls in Southwest

Scotland then I’ll be over to the North York Moors regularly checking the bridleways and paths on the moors and in the forests north of Cropton. We’ve got another excellent event centre right next to the New Inn which is also the Cropton Brewery so hope to see you there.
